11/20/25. Art Opening – Animal Spirit Group Exhibition

Tiger's Eye Gallery is proud to present Animal Spirit, a dynamic show exploring the theme of the animals and the sprit they embody. Join us for an opening reception Thursday, November 20.

The exhibit will include a rich variety of prints, drawings, and paintings. All offer a compelling look at how artists focus on or use animals as mythological subjects—from intimate portraits, to narratives, to the ethereal.

Participating artists are primarily local Athenians including David Hale, Tatiana Kiselyova, Valley StipeMaas, and Jeffrey Whittle, among others. Noah Mendelson, a celebrated artist of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico will show several new paintings.

The Tiger's Eye permanent exhibition room with work by Coleman Barks and Mark Magnarella will also be open.

"The theme provides an accessible lens to personal and other-worldly perspectives," said curator Jessica Magnarella. "I see it as a vibrant dialogue about our companions on this planet. Whether the images come from our imagination, the spiritual realm, or real memories, animals offer a connection to innocence and beauty and maybe even love."

11/10/23. LIGHT + PRESSURE

Firefly photography on metal by Mark Magnarella and embossed abstracts on handmade paper by Ben Sidney Rouse were the first exhibition at Tiger's Eye Gallery. Magnarella’s enchanting images are long exposures of synchronous fireflies. His photos are not computer manipulated but are still magical and other worldly. Taken at night without artificial light—which can affect firefly populations—the photo process was challenging but rewarding. Rouse’s embossed paper art is tactile and evokes mood and emotion beyond its clean, balanced aesthetic. “Instead of spelling out specific words or letters, my work expresses things more abstract or emotional—a kind of spiritual braille you read with your heart or eyes,” Rouse says.
